The Ram boys cross country team finished fifth in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet held Oct. 9 in Jefferson on the middle school grounds.
Noah Hinote finished fourth with a season best time of 17:46.29. That’s just 13 seconds off the Greene County record, which he holds.
Hinote was followed by Gavyn Winters, 25th, 19:05.00; Brady Carstensen, 26th, 19:08.63; Kolby Angell, 34th, 19:49.90; Eli Carstensen, 57th, 21:36.47; Jaden Koller, 68th, 22:13.06; and Maddox Carstensen, 84th, 23:23.09.
Nevada won the meet with five Cubs finishing in the top 10. Team scores were Nevada 28, West Marshall 75, Roland-Story 95, Perry 113, Greene County 125, South Hamilton 130, PCM 147 and Saydel 211.
Coach Jeff Lamoureux called it a “great evening for a race. Conditions were near perfect and with a flat course I figured times would be good. Our runners really stepped up with several PRs. Injuries have been a problem all year and today was no different, with two of our top seven not able to run.”
The Greene County girls did not have runners for a team score. Becca Anderson was the first Ram across the line with a time of 22:53.09. Ava Minnehan was 26th with a time of 23:49.82, and Evelyn Snyder was 34th with a time of 24:37.34.
